Mark J. Zoller, Ph.D., Executive Vice President of Discovery and Development and Chief Scientific Officer, joined us in March 2000 as Vice President of Research and was promoted to Senior Vice President of Research and Chief Scientific Officer in June 2001. From May 1992 to December 1999, Dr. Zoller held a number of scientific management positions at ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, most recently as Senior Vice President, Genomics and Scientific Director of the Hoechst-ARIAD Genomics Center, which in December 1999 was acquired by Aventis Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Zoller received his B.A. in Chemistry from Pomona College and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, San Diego.
