Senomyx believes our proprietary taste receptor-based technologies, including our receptor discovery, assay development, high-throughput screening systems, and sample libraries, provide the Company and our collaborators with significant competitive advantages.

Senomyx seeks patent protection to cover our discoveries, including:

• Receptors, and nucleic acid sequences encoding receptors, that are involved in taste
• The use of receptors to identify flavor ingredients
• New compositions and uses of these compositions as flavor ingredients

Senomyx owns or has exclusive licenses to 173 issued patents and 391 pending patent applications in the U.S. and elsewhere. We intend to continue to aggressively pursue comprehensive intellectual property protection on a worldwide basis on our evolving technologies.
