(www.senomyx.com) announced today an exclusive collaborative research and license agreement for the discovery and commercialization of new ingredients that will enhance taste of specified consumer food products. Exact terms of the collaboration were not disclosed. However, under the agreement, Nestlé will provide research funding over a three-year period and, upon successful outcome of the research, additional payments for milestones and for royalties based on sales of products using the new ingredients. more

La Jolla, CA (April 2, 2002) – Scientists at Senomyx, Inc. (www.senomyx.com) have demonstrated the function of a human receptor that responds to sweeteners and a related human receptor that responds to glutamate, a savory tasting molecule found in a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables and associated with umami taste. These results are described in a manuscript to be published in the April 2, 2002 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (www.pnas.org) and will be presented at the annual meeting of the Association for Chemoreception Sciences beginning on April 24, 2002 in Sarasota, Florida. more

LA JOLLA, CA (April 23, 2001) – Scientists at SenomyxSM Inc. (www.senomyx.com) have identified hT1R3, a candidate human taste receptor for sweet tastants. Dr. Elliot Adler from Senomyx will present this and other work at the annual meeting of AChemS on Thursday, April 26, 2001 in Sarasota, Florida. The new candidate receptor was identified by Dr. Adler and his colleague Dr. Sergey Zozulya using a bioinformatics analysis of unannotated human genome sequence databases to identify the gene sequence encoding the new receptor. more
