SENOMYX, INC. LICENSES SODIUM CHANNEL TECHNOLOGY FROM JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY


LA JOLLA (May 9, 2000) – Senomyx, Inc. announced today that it has acquired rights to novel sodium channel related technology developed in the laboratories of Dr. Solomon Snyder at Johns Hopkins University. This patented discovery (U.S. Patent 5,693,756) identifies new forms of an amiloride sensitive sodium channel and new possible methods of identifying substances which stimulate or block salty taste perception. "We are glad to have this technology in our portfolio to strengthen our discovery program in the area of salty taste," said Dr. Lubert Stryer, Chief Scientific Officer and Chairman of the Board. Senomyx is dedicated to becoming the world leader in the discovery and commercialization of products and services relevant to the biology, genomics, and chemistry of chemosensation in a broad range of markets including consumer food, fragrance, cosmetic, therapeutic, household, agricultural, and industrial applications.
