LA JOLLA, CA (May 24, 2004) - Senomyx, Inc. (www.senomyx.com) announced today that John W. Poyhonen has been appointed to the position of Chief Financial and Business Officer. Mr. Poyhonen has served as Senomyx's Vice President and Chief Business Officer since joining the Company in October, 2003 and will retain his current responsibilities in addition to his new role as Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining Senomyx, Mr. Poyhonen served in various commercial leadership positions at Agouron Pharmaceuticals, a Pfizer company, most recently as Vice President of National Sales. Prior to holding this position, Mr. Poyhonen served as Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of National Accounts. Mr. Poyhonen received his B.A. in Marketing from Michigan State University and his M.B.A. from the University of Kansas.
